John W. McClane III, O.D. Board Certified Optometric Physician Co-Owner of Coastal Vision Center
Dr. John McClane III has practiced Optometry for the past 28 years in Fernandina Beach, Fl. First with his father Dr. John McClane Jr. and currently with his partners Dr. Steve Stubits and Dr. Tony Stubits. They deliver full service eye care in their offices providing comprehensive eye exams, the fitting of spectacles and contact lenses and the treatment of eye diseases and injuries. They also are associated with cataract and retina specialists who come to their office to provide surgical services on Amelia Island. Dr. McClane is the past president of the Florida Optometric Association and he has been honored as Florida’s Optometrist of the year in 1993 and Optometrist of the Decade in 1998. Dr. McClane was appointed to serve as a member of the Florida Board of Optometry by Governor Jeb Bush in 1999 through December 2007, he also served two terms as Chairman of the Board of Optometry. Dr. McClane is a lifelong resident of Amelia Island and lives at Summer Beach with his wife Linda who serves as Managing Director of Amelia Community Theatre. They have two grown sons Jack and David. In his spare time Dr. McClane enjoys boating and bike riding around Amelia Island.
Stephen D.Stubits, O.D. Board Certified Optometric Physician Co-Owner of Coastal Vision Center
Dr. Stubits was born and raised in Fernandina Beach. He graduated from the Southern College of Optometry May, 1981 earning the degree Doctor of Optometry. While in college he was president of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity, a member of Phi Theta Upsilon Fraternity and a member of the American Optometric Student Association. Dr. Stubits presently holds Optometric licensure in both Florida and Georgia and is a member of both the Georgia Optometric Association and Florida Optometric Association. He is also a member of the Northeast Florida Optometric Society and the American Optometric Association. Dr. Stubits has been involved in many civil organizations in the community such as the Fernandina Beach Chamber of Commerce, Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Nassau County, St. Peters Episcopal Church, FBHS foundation, as well as a consultant to the Nassau County Health Department and Nassau County School System. His Recreation interests include golfing and boating.
Anthony L. Stubits, O.D. Board Certified Optometric Physician Co-Owner of Coastal Vision Center
Dr. Tony Stubits practices in Fernandina Beach, Fl and St. Marys, Ga. He graduated from Southern College of Optometry in 1982 earning a degree as Doctor of Optometry. Dr. Stubits was a member of Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Fraternity and Phi Theta Upsilon Fraternity. Dr. Stubits presently holds both Florida and Georgia optometric state licensure. His professional activities include membership in the American Optometric Association, Georgia Optometric Association, Florida Optometric Association and Past-President of the Northeast Florida Optometric Society. Dr. Stubits has practiced optometry in association with Dr. John McClane, III and Dr. Stephen Stubits since 1982. He joined partnership with Mcclane & Stubits, O.D., P.A. June 1985 to present. Dr. Stubits enjoys playing golf and jet-skiing with his family.
Gerald W. Koss II, O.D. Board Certified Optometric Physician Residency Trained
Dr. Koss practices primary care optometry, while also focusing on ocular disease, in both Fernandina Beach and St Marys. Dr. Koss attended Barry University in Miami Shores, Florida for his undergraduate education. While there he participated in many organizations as well as intramural athletics. Jerry was president of Alpha Delta Gamma National Fraternity’s Psi chapter as well as holding other offices in the organization. Dr. Koss was also a member of Gamma Sigma Epsilon National Chemistry Honor Society. Dr. Koss attended Nova Southeastern University for his optometric training. Once completing his Doctorate of Optometry he focused his education and training toward a residency in ocular disease at Omni Eye Services of Atlanta. While at Omni, Dr. Koss focused on the diagnosis and treatment of various ocular diseases such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, cataracts and other eye related anomalies. He is a member of several professional organizations including the Florida Optometric Association, Georgia Optometric Association, the Northeast Florida Optometric Society and the American Optometric Association. Dr. Koss also serves as an eye consultant for Baptist Nassau. In his spare time Dr. Koss enjoys taking in various shows, water skiing, snow boarding, fishing, playing tennis and watching NHL, NCAA football and the Jaguars!
