Primarily practices in Fernandina Beach and
St. Mary’s location.
Graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry May 1979,
earning the degree Doctor of Optometry. Presently holds licenses in
both Florida and Georgia.
Member of Northeast Florida Optometric Society, Florida
Optometric Association, Georgia Optometric Association, American
Optometric Association, and Southern Council of Optometrists
participating actively on the Board of Directors and Advisory
Committees. His
outstanding contributions have earned him awards such as Outstanding
Service Award 1981-1982, Legislative Appreciation Award 1983 &
1993, Florida Optometrist of the Year 1993, and Florida Optometric
Association Politicial Action Committee Man of the Year 1995. With optometric emphasis Dr.
McClane involves himself in numerous programs, lectures, and
publications. He gives
his time to civic activities including the Fernandina Beach Rotary
Club, Terpsichorean Club, Fernandina Bch and St. Mary’s Chamber of
Commerce, Amelia Community Theatre, and P.T.A. Member. Dr. McClane enjoys leisure
time scuba diving, boating, and skiing with his family.
Stephen D. Stubits,

Primarily practices in Fernandina Beach and
St. Mary’s locations.
Graduated from the Southern College of Optometry May 1981
earning the degree Doctor of Optometry. President of Alpha Tau Omega
Fraternity, Secretary Club, member of Phi Theta Upsilon Fraternity,
and member of American Optometric Student Association. Presently holding licenses
in both Florida and Georgia.
Currently a member of the American Optometric Association,
Florida Optometric Association, Georgia Optometric Association, and
Northeast Florida Optometric Association. Actively involved in civic
organizations such as the Fernandina Beach Chamber of Commerce, Big
Brothers and Big Sisters of Nassau County, St. Peters Episcopal
Church, consultant to the Nassau County Health Department and Nassau
County School System.
Currently a Staff Member of Baptist Medical
Center-Nassau.
Recreation interests include football, basketball, and
softball.

Graduated from Southern College of Optometry 1982 earning a
degree as Doctor of Optometry.
Member of Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Fraternity and Phi Theta
Upsilon Fraternity.
Presently holds both Florida and Georgia licenses. Professional activities
include membership in American Optometric Association, Georgia
Optometric Association, Florida Optometric Association, and
President of Northeast Florida Optometric Association. Practiced optometry in
association with John W. McClane, III, O.D. and Stephen D. Stubits,
O.D. since August 1982.
Joined partnership with McClane & Stubits, O.D., P.A.
June 1985 to present. First time author “Unnatural Selection”. Dr
Stubits enjoys playing golf and fishing with his
family.
